The Pediatric Center has been providing care for Richmond’s children since 1962. We started as a small practice of 3 doctors, and have grown to become a large practice with 12 Pediatricians and 8 Nurse practitioners. We have three separate locations throughout Richmond, including the West End, Northside, and East End.

Our entire staff is dedicated to providing you and your children the best possible care. Our goal is state of the art, up to date pediatric care for your children, delivered in a compassionate and comforting environment. As a parent, you can be confident that our health care team will be here for you and your child from birth to college, to guide you as they grow, in states of wellness and in times of illness.

Electronic Health Records:  We're Going Live!

On November 8th the Pediatric Center began seeing patients under  our new Electronic Health Records.  We have sincerely appreciated the understanding that our patients have shown as we have been working through the technical challenges of this system. We believe that this transition is progressing well and hope to be back to our full patient volume very soon.  Thank you for your support!

General Flu Shot Information

Influenza vaccination is recommended for all children aged 6 months and up.

All children 6 months through 8 years of age (up until their 9th birthday) are recommended to receive 2 doses of 2011-12 flu vaccine 4 or more weeks apart unless they have received at least 1 dose of the 2010-11 flu vaccine.  If a child received at least 1 dose of the 2010-11 flu vaccine, they only need 1 2011-12 flu vaccine. Children 9 years or older and adults need only 1 dose annually.

If your child is older than 6 months but less than 2 years, they will be eligible for the flu SHOT. If they are 2 years or older, they may be eligible for FluMist instead of the shot (as long as they are non-asthmatic and have not been wheezing recently).  Just ask us to help you decide which is right for your child.

We look forward to helping you protect your child and your family from this year's coming flu season.

The John Rolfe office is now open in the West End at the corner of Ridgefield Parkway and John Rolfe Parkway. This office has replaced the Gayton Road office. The new office has 10,500 square feet of space and 19 exam rooms. We have two separate waiting rooms for sick and well patients and a secluded area for newborns. In addition, there is a "Lactation Lounge" in the back so that our nursing mothers can relax in a more private setting. Please come see our new home!

We work hard to be the best that we can be, working with parents to provide the care necessary for your children. We would appreciate your feedback on the job we are doing in our online survey.
