The Pediatric Center has been providing care for Richmond’s children since 1962. We started as a small practice of 3 doctors, and have grown to become a large practice with 12 Pediatricians and 7 Nurse practitioners. We have three separate locations throughout Richmond, including the West End, Northside, and East End.

Our entire staff is dedicated to providing you and your children the best possible care. Our goal is state of the art, up to date pediatric care for your children, delivered in a compassionate and comforting environment. As a parent, you can be confident that our health care team will be here for you and your child from birth to college, to guide you as they grow, in states of wellness and in times of illness.

FLU SHOT INFORMATION

If you have a child between the ages of 6 months – 24 years, or are the parent/caregiver of an infant less than 6 months old, you will be able to receive the swine flu vaccine in our office. Children that are patients in our practice will receive the vaccine free of charge (we will bill your insurance), but parents that are eligible to receive the swine flu vaccine will be required to pay a vaccine administration fee of $25 at the time of service.

If you already have a scheduled appointment in our office during the week, you may get any of the flu vaccines that are available at the time of your visit.

Swine Flu (H1N1) Vaccine Availability: We have all forms of the swine flu vaccine available. Children that are older than 2 years old, and do not have an underlying medical condition such as asthma or diabetes, are eligible to receive the MIST. We also have injectable swine flu vaccine for children ages 6 months and older. Remember, if your child has recently received the seasonal FluMIST vaccine, he may not receive the swine MIST until at least 28 days have passed from the date of the first MIST dose. The swine shot, however, may be given at ANY point after receiving seasonal FluMIST (assuming it’s available).

If you are due for your second dose of H1N1 vaccine (children < 10 yrs old), please make sure that it’s been at least 21 days!

Seasonal Flu Vaccine Availability (Read Carefully!!): If you have private insurance (Anthem, Aetna, FAMIS, etc.), we have injectable flu vaccine, for children ages 6 months and older. We do NOT have any FluMist. For state-supported insurances (VA Medicaid or Medicaid HMOs), we have about 50 doses of FluMIST still left (must be older than 2 years and non-asthmatic). At this time we do not have any injectable vaccine.

If this is the first year that your child has received a seasonal flu vaccine, they should receive a booster dose 28 days after the first dose.

The John Rolfe office is now open in the West End at the corner of Ridgefield Parkway and John Rolfe Parkway. This office has replaced the Gayton Road office. The new office has 10,500 square feet of space and 19 exam rooms. We have two separate waiting rooms for sick and well patients and a secluded area for newborns. In addition, there is a "Lactation Lounge" in the back so that our nursing mothers can relax in a more private setting. Please come see our new home!

We work hard to be the best that we can be, working with parents to provide the care necessary for your children. We would appreciate your feedback on the job we are doing in our online survey.
