Our Care Team

Walter Chun, M.D.

Dr. Walter J. Chun was born in Boston, MA, and he was raised in Fredericksburg, VA. He attended Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a BA in Biology, with a minor in Psychology. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and completed his pediatric residency training at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Chun is board certifed by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He moved to Richmond in 1998 and has been happily working at the Pediatric Center ever since. Some of his practice interests include well child care, asthma, and international adoption. He is also an instructor with the Medical College of Virginia and has received teaching awards for instructing medical students and residents in the office. He resides in Richmond with his wife and their three children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, playing the piano, playing soccer, and is an avid sports fan.
Brianna M. Couch, M.D.

A native of Mechanicsville, Dr. Couch graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She received her medical degree in Charlottesville from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Her residency training was completed at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Dr. Couch holds memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

She is an avid jogger and hiker; interests that she shares with her husband, Brian.

Julie Weaver Fortner, M.D.

A native of Richmond, VA, Dr. Fortner has been practicing at the Pediatric Center since 1993. She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1986 with a B.S. in Biology, where she was in the Phi Sigma Biology Honor Society. She continued at Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine where she received her medical degree, and continued her internship and residency at Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine. She has been a Professor of Pediatrics at MCV School of Medicine since 1993. While at MCV, she earned the following honors: Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society, the Phi Kappi Phi Honor Society, and the Janet Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation. She holds memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, Richmond Academy of Medicine, Medical Society of Virginia, and the Richmond Pediatric Society. She was Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1993, and recertified in 2000 and 2007. Dr. Fortner and her husband Glenn, a family dentist, have 4 wonderful children with whom they enjoy traveling. Dr. Fortner also enjoys cooking, reading and photography. She is also an avid animal lover, and is a "mom" to 1 dog and 6 cats.
Richard Haas, M.D.

Dr. Richard Haas was born and grew up in Williamsburg, VA. His education includes a BS in Physical Chemistry from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science degree in chemistry and molecular biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana. He attended medical school at the University of Virginia and did his pediatric residency at the University of Connecticut and the University of Virginia.

Dr. Haas’ first practice was in rural Virginia at Big Stone Gap which is in Wise County in southwestern Virginia. He then practiced for ten years at the William Golden Clinic in Elkins, WV. Dr. Haas served as Chief of Medical Staff and Chief of Pediatrics at Memorial General Hospital in Elkins, WV. At that time, he was appointed to the West Virginia advisory committee on pediatric hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. He has published several scientific papers on topics such as infectious diseases, bowel disorders and infant circumcision as well as articles on the physical chemistry of psychiatric medications. He also practices as a pediatrician at the Tucker Psychiatric Pavilion.

Dr. Haas, his wife Kathie, and their two sons Steven and Andrew returned to Virginia in 1986. He has practiced with the Pediatric Center since 1989. His sons attended Hampden Sydney College and his oldest son is an attorney practicing in Richmond.

He is interested in boating and fishing and does volunteer work at his church.
Jon Marks, M.D.

Dr. Marks, a native of North Carolina, attended Wake Forest University for both his undergraduate studies and medical school. He completed his internship and residency with Dr. Chun at the Medical College of Georgia. He has practiced in the Richmond area since 2000 and joined the Pediatric Center in 2005. He is board certified in Pediatrics and is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His areas of medical interest include routine well child care, anticipatory guidance, and asthma. His wife, Cara, is also a physician and they both work part-time while raising their four children. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing the banjo and guitar, and spending time with his family.
Carolyn Clayton Port, M.D.

Dr. Port was born in Princeton, NJ and was raised in Texas and North Carolina. She received her B.S. in Biology from Duke University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, was a National Merit Scholar, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She continued her education at Duke University School of Medicine, where she was named a Eugene Stead Scholar for research on hypoxia and carbon monoxide toxicity, and earned her medical degree in 2001. She moved to Richmond in 2001 and completed her internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia/VCU School of Medicine in 2004. Following residency, she spent a year as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at VCU, and served as an instructor in Foundations of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Port joined the Pediatric Center in 2005. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and holds memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, Richmond Academy of Medicine, and the Medical Society of Virginia. Her special interests include asthma, obesity, and helping parents adjust to the different stages of parenting. Dr. Port and her husband, John, also a physician, have two young daughters. In her free time, she enjoys arts and crafts, running, being active in her children’s school, and volunteering at Fan Free Clinic with her husband.
Grover C. Robinson, III, M.D.

Dr. Robinson received his B.S. from Davidson College and his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia. He did his internship and residency in Pediatrics in El Paso, Texas. After serving in the army he joined the Pediatric Center in 1977. Since then he has served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Mary's Hospital, Henrico Doctor's Hospital, and the old Richmond Memorial Hospital. He is a past president of the Richmond Pediatric Society and has been Medical Director of the United Methodist Family Services for thirty years. He has also been teaching medical students and pediatric residents from the Medical College of Virginia where he holds an academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics. He is board certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the Richmond Pediatric Society, the Medical Society of Virginia, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has a special interest in the care of premature infants and adolescents. Dr. Robinson has been happily married to his wife, Betsy for over 40 years. They have two grown children, both of whom are physicians.
Jewett Moncure Sharpe, M.D.

Dr. Sharpe, a native of Richmond, VA attended college at Wake Forest University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. He completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia. Following this, Dr. Sharpe attended Vanderbilt University where he completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics, as well as a two year fellowship in Adolescent Medicine. During his fellowship, Dr. Sharpe attended at Vanderbilt University Student Health, and was a consultant at the Vanderbilt Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital and The Teen Clinic/Planned Parenthood in Nashville. Dr. Sharpe is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and The Medical Society of Virginia. He has served as a Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee for Pediatrics at Henrico Doctor's Hospital, Vice Chairman and Chairman of The Department of Pediatrics at Henrico Doctor's Hospital, and has served as a representative on the Medical Executive Committee and Credentials Committee at Henrico Doctor's Hospital. Dr. Sharpe is married, has three sons, and his wife is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Henrico Doctor's Hospital. His hobbies include fishing, waterfowl hunting, cooking, gardening and writing outdoor stories.
Liv Gorla Schneider, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Schneider joined The Pediatric Center in the fall of 2009. Dr. Schneider grew up in southern California and completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University in 1996 where she was honored with the Carol Guyer Award for Academic Achievement in Children and Society. She moved to Virginia to attend the Medical College of Virginia in 1998. During medical school, she received the Elizabeth J. Harbison Memorial Award for her accomplishments in pediatrics. Dr. Schneider remained at MCV to complete her pediatric residency and to serve as Chief Resident. In 2006, Dr. Schneider, a National Health Service Corps Scholar, and her family moved to Albany, Georgia to work in a medically underserved area. While in Albany, Dr. Schneider worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia, served as a community preceptor for the Family Practice Residency of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and volunteered her time as the the Pediatric Medical Advisor to the Lily Pad, a child abuse regional referral center. Since returning to Richmond, she has continued to precept students from the Medical College of Virginia and has focused her efforts at The Pediatric Center on vaccinations and asthma quality improvement programs. Dr. Schneider is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Schneider and her husband, Brian, are the happy parents of three young children.
Annemarie Gililland Tull, M.D.

Dr. Tull, a native of Northern Virginia, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1992 with a B.S. in Accounting. She practiced as a tax accountant for four years at Arthur Anderson in Washington, D.C., before realizing that her true calling was medicine. She moved to Richmond in 1996 to attend medical school at MCV, where she also stayed to complete her pediatric residency. She joined the Pediatric Center in July of 2003. Dr. Tull is currently the Chairman of Pediatrics at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. She is board certified in Pediatrics, as well as a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Medical Society of Virginia, and Richmond Academy of Medicine. Dr Tull has three young children (Lauren, Michael, and Kathryn) with her husband, Mel, who is an attorney at Hunton & Williams. She enjoys reading, animals, and being active with her family. Her special interests in the office include helping mothers with breastfeeding and other newborn issues, developmental delays/learning issues, nutritional counseling, and asthma.
Elizabeth Ann Yaple, M.D.

A native of Johnson City, NY, Dr. Yaple graduated from Ithaca College in New York. She went on to receive her Medical Doctorate from SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2003. At Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine she completed her internship and residency in 2006. She continued on at VCU School of Medicine as the Pediatric Chief Resident and an Instructor in Foundations of Clinical Medicine. She is a Board Certified physician at The American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Yaple is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor. She has been named a Certified Asthma Educator by the American Lung Association. Dr. Yaple has served on several committees such as the Pediatric Residency Selection Committee as well as the Residency Recruitment and Steering Committees. She has been an advocate in the community by serving on many area events, such as Reach Out and Read, Read and Romp, teaching AIDS information to high school students as well as many others. Her honors and awards are Dean's Letter of Commendation at SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Ithaca College Oracle Society honoring outstanding academic achievement. She began in private practice in 2007.

Joanna Martinette, MSN, RN, CPNP

Joanna Martinette joined The Pediatric Center in September of 2012. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She went on to graduate with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University's Accelerated Masters program in 2011, specializing in Child Health. Joanna is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitoner through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitoners. She has been married to her husband Ryan for almost 6 years and they have two dogs, Foxxie and Bailey. In her spare time Joanna enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Wanda Rivadeneira, MS, FNP-BC

A native Virginian, Wanda is an alumnus of the Medical College Of Virginia / Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Science with a dual major in Community Health and the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Wanda is nationally certified as A Family Nurse practitioner through both the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has served as a clinical preceptor for the VCU Nurse Practitioner Program since 1982. Wanda joined the staff at the Pediatric Center in 1990. Her particular interests include developmental pediatrics and health care for exceptional children.

Wanda is married and enjoys spending time with her now grown children, her two young grandchildren and her extended family. She loves lake living, gardening, live theater, arts and crafts, turtle collectibles, and being entertained by her Boston Terriers,Max and Lula.

Jennifer C. Schrecengost,DNP,CPNP

Jennifer has been with Pediatric Center since March 2008. Jennifer received a Bachelor of Science at the College of William and Mary and received both a Bachelor and Master of Science with a concentration in Child Health Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. In May 2012, Jennifer completed the doctorate program at Old Dominion University to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Her particular interests are pediatric obesity and asthma care.

Jennifer is married, has two children, and a houseful of pets. In addition to spending time with her family, Jennifer loves to read, go to the beach, and watch football (Go Steelers!).
